The card changes every April
The New Card Companion
Every spring, the National Mah Jongg League publishes a brand-new card. The hands are new. The sections are rearranged. A hand you had grown fond of is simply gone, and for about three weeks every single player in America is a beginner again.
The rules do not change. The tiles do not change. But the card does, and that is the one thing no book can solve on its own.

Put in your email address and we will send you our free New Card Companion when the new card comes out. That is the whole process.
Free. Leave any time with one click. Your address goes nowhere else.
What we send is our own plain-language explanation, never the card itself. The card belongs to the League, and you buy it from them. What we send is the part that helps:
- How to read the new card's sections, in plain language.
- What changed from last year, and what that means for a newer player.
- How to choose a hand from it using the Clue Hunt and the Two-Candidate Method, worked through on the new card's logic.
- The hands a beginner can actually finish this year, and the ones to leave alone until next year.
You will hear from us a few times in your first week. After that we write when we have something worth your time — and always in April, when the new card comes out. Write back any time. We would like that.
